Sir John Lavery – Greetings Card

Sir John Lavery was a prominent Irish portrait and wartime painter, known for capturing key moments in British and Irish history. Born in Belfast and raised in Scotland, he rose to fame through his society portraits, including Queen Victoria’s visit to Glasgow. He later moved to London and painted figures like Winston Churchill and John Redmond. Appointed as an official war artist during WWI, Lavery created striking images of ships and airships. In recognition of his work, he was knighted and elected to the Royal Academy in 1921.
