Striped Fabrics

Our striped fabrics are woven stripes from Nicholas Engert in England – Bude, Weymouth and Crantock – and from Finnish designer Johanna Gullichsen, whose Helios and Normandie stripes are reversible double weaves.

Stripes add structure to upholstery, curtains and blinds, and work well alongside plains and florals. Narrow stripes suit chairs and cushions; wider stripes suit curtains and larger sofas.

Frequently asked questions

Are striped fabrics good for upholstery?

Yes, if the grade suits. Check that the use grade is heavy domestic or commercial for sofas and chairs.

Which way should stripes run on a sofa?

Stripes usually run from front to back over the seat and down the back, so they line up visually from the front.

Can I order samples?

Yes. Free cuttings are available for every fabric we sell, for trade and retail clients alike. Add a sample to your basket from the product page, or ask our studio.
