Autumn Chrysanthemums, 1948 by Theo Garman
Theo Garman – Greetings Card
Theodore ‘Theo’ Garman (1924–1954) was an English painter and the son of the sculptor Sir Jacob Epstein and Kathleen Garman. A conscientious objector during the Second World War, he developed into a distinctive artist whose work combined echoes of medieval art with natural imagery, earning praise from critics including Wyndham Lewis, who called him ‘an important newcomer’. His paintings are now held in collections including The New Art Gallery Walsall.
