Retro Wall Lights

Our retro wall lights are early twentieth-century designs by Mullan – prismatic glass dishes, adjustable cone lights and swan-neck fittings in antique brass, copper and black – built to modern standards for kitchens, halls, bathrooms and bedrooms.

Retro wall lights bring the character of old workshops, cafés and railway stations to period and contemporary homes alike. Adjustable cone lights such as Preston and Quito make good bedside reading lights, while the Gadar and Portland prismatic-glass lights cast a warm, patterned glow in halls and kitchens.

Frequently asked questions

What is a prismatic glass wall light?

Prismatic or holophane glass is moulded with ribs that refract the light, spreading it evenly and reducing glare. It was widely used in early twentieth-century industrial and street lighting.

Can retro wall lights be used as reading lights?

Yes. The adjustable cone lights, such as Preston and Quito, can be angled onto a book, making them a popular choice beside beds and armchairs.

Are retro wall lights made to modern safety standards?

Yes. They are new fittings made to current standards, combining vintage styling with modern wiring and lamp holders.
