Edward Ardizzone – Greetings Card
Edward Ardizzone was a British painter, printmaker and war artist, as well as the author and illustrator of many books, particularly for children. He began his career working as an office clerk while attending evening classes at Westminster School of Art, devoting his spare time to painting. With financial help from his father, Ardizzone was eventually able to leave his office job and pursue a career as a freelance artist. A major theme in his work was life in London, with illustrations of local pubs and parks. His distinctive naturalistic style is noted for its gentle lines, delicate watercolours, and attention to detail.
