Julian Trevelyan – Greetings Card

Julian Trevelyan was a British artist known for his etching, printmaking, painting and for camouflage work in the desert town of Tobruk, North Africa in the Second World War. He moved to Paris to become an artist and worked alongside artists who included Max Ernst, Oskar Kokoschka, Joan Miro and Pablo Picasso.

In 1935 he bought Durham Wharf beside the River Thames in Hammersmith which became his home and studio for the rest of his life. He became a highly influential teacher, having taught at the Chelsea School of Art and the Royal College of Art where he became Head of the Etching Department. His students included David Hockney, Ron Kitaj and Norman Ackroyd and he is now regarded as a driving force behind the etching revolution of the 1960’s.
