Peder Severin Krøyer – Greetings Card
Peder Severin Krøyer was born in Stavanger, Norway in 1851. Raised in Copenhagen by his foster parents, including the Danish zoologist Henrik Nikolai Krøyer, he began his formal art training at the age of nine. He enrolled in Copenhagen's Technical Institute and later completed his studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Art, graduating at 19. Krøyer was awarded the Academy’s gold medal and a prestigious scholarship in 1873. He would go on to become one of the most prominent figures of the Skagen Painters, known for his atmospheric, light-filled scenes of Danish coastal life.
