The Weald of Kent, c1827 by Samuel Palmer
Samuel Palmer was a British landscape painter, etcher and printmaker and an Honorary Fellow of the Society of Painter Etchers. He also wrote extensively and was a key figure in Romanticism in Britain, producing many visionary pastoral paintings. He met the artist William Blake whose influence can be seen in his landscapes around Shoreham in Kent and he was part of a group of Blake-influenced artists known as The Ancients.
