Floor Lights
Generally we avoid floor lights except in certain circumstances where they are of practical purpose to provide light locally for tasks such as reading, or lighting art works.
Standard lamps are particularly ugly but the adjustable floor standing reading light can be essential for use beside an armchair or sofa where a table lamp can not be used. We have an excellent selection of classic floor lights in polished brass, nickel or antique brass and some with built in tables which are ideal for use between a pair of chairs.
We also have a number of cordless fittings which provide great flexibility for both indoor and outdoor use.
Floor Lights - Classic, Contemporary or Retro?
Classic Floor Lights
Whilst we do not like the conventional standard lamp, there are a number of floor light options that are practical and very useful in living rooms, studies and bedrooms.
The main purpose of such lights is to provide adequate light for reading or other tasks next to or close to a chair or sofa. In many cases this light can be provided by a table lamp on a sofa table but the floor standing library light can for example be more flexible.
As with all lighting we are looking for the combination of practicality and style.
Contemporary Floor Lights
We are very selective in our choice of contemporary floor lights but some of Catellani & Smith's products are exquisite for use either in modern interiors or where an unobtrusive light fitting is required.
These modern floor lights can also be successful incorporated within traditional interiors where their minimalist appearance will not clash with the decoration or design of the room.
Cordless Floor Lights
Cordless lights are perfect for areas without an available local power supply.
Lighting in the garden, for example, becomes easier and safer and with the ability to run for up to eight hours these are very flexible fittings.
