Alberto Morrocco – Greetings Card

Alberto Morrocco (1917–1998) was a prominent Scottish artist known for his vibrant use of color and dynamic compositions. Born in Aberdeen to Italian immigrant parents, he studied at Gray's School of Art and furthered his training in France and Italy. Morrocco’s early work was influenced by the Scottish Colourists and European modernism, especially the works of Matisse and Picasso. His prolific career spanned portraiture, landscapes, and still lifes, often depicting Mediterranean scenes with a lyrical and expressive style. During World War II, he was interned as an enemy alien but later served in the army. After the war, he became Head of Painting at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, where he taught for nearly three decades. Morrocco's contributions to Scottish art were widely recognized, earning him several prestigious honors. His legacy endures through his vivid paintings and influence on generations of Scottish artists and students.
