Recollections, Late 1940's by Winifred Nicholson
Winifred Nicholson – Greetings Card
Winifred Nicholson was a British painter who was married to the painter Ben Nicholson, although they later divorced and he remarried Barbara Hepworth. Winifred was a colourist who developed her own impressionistic style, concentrating on domestic still life and landscapes. She was fascinated by rainbow and spectrum colours and many of her paintings in the 1970s used these strong colours innovatively. She also wrote about her thoughts on colour. She painted prolifically both at home and abroad with trips to Scotland, Greece and Italy amongst other places.
